PRAIRIE STAINED GLASS was established in Winnipeg in 1978. Our focus has always been to create art glass pieces constructed of the highest possible caliber using the best materials available. We currently have eight employees actively pursuing this goal. We have dozens of finished pieces such as window hangings, lamps, fused and cast glass vessels and sculptures, art clay silver and glass jewellery in stock for immediate sale. We also accept commissions.

Prairie Stained Glass is well known for our custom designed windows, lamps and room dividers. We have built thousands of pieces for customer's homes and offices. We have also created donor recognition walls (Victoria General Hospital and the Children's Rehabilitation Hospital), booth dividers (the Round Table Restaurant and the Elephant Castle) and custom lamps (Pockets Bar and Grill and the Green Briar). Matthew McMillan heads our residential team. He is equally comfortable working with Tiffany style representational designs or more modern abstract themes. He will meet with you in our studio where you can browse through idea books to find a design and colour scheme, which will suit your needs.

Lucinda Doran is the head of our religious team. She is always busy working on a number of projects simultaneously. Some of the projects involve up to 12 windows for the same church and will require a number of years for completion. Lucinda has studied stained glass design and painting techniques at the world famous Pilchuk Glass School. Her work typically includes figures such as Jesus or Mary with beautifully painted hands and faces, as well as robes and backgrounds if needed. She has traveled as far afield as France to buy specially made mouth blown glass which provides her with the palate and quality she demands in her work. All work is done on a commission basis. Lucinda would be happy to meet with your church committee to put on a slide show of her body of work so that together you can formulate a concept for stained glass windows which reflect the architectural setting as well as the beliefs of your congregation.

There  is no charge for this service. The biggest challenge we have in doing repairs is trying to replace missing glass pieces when there were no existing photographs of the windows in their original state.
